What does Porter get to wear when he pees through 10 outfits in 1 day? Baby's First Christmas. It was the middle of January, so we weren't even a month off.

My sis and I took some 'model pix of Porter' (see below). Everything 'Baby Brother' does Lincoln wants to do too. So ... he took a turn in the spotlight. (I just realized he is wearing his Santa jammies too. Lincoln likes to say, "Hey Mom, guess what?!? CHRISTMAS!!!")

He is here! Our sweet baby boy weighed in at 7 lb 8 oz. He is 20.5 inches long. He made his debut at 6:54 pm on January 5th. We finally decided on a name. Porter (because we like the name) and Leonard (after Tyler's grandpa who is the sweetest man alive).

Here are a few more fun facts:

Porter was born on our 4th anniversary.

He was born at the birthing center in Meridian, and I have very positive things to say about the experience.

Although Lincoln has been hanging out with grandparents since 'Baby Brother's' arrival, when he did see him he was a really good Big Brother. He just kept saying, "He's cute! He's cute!" and copying what Porter would do.

Taking these 2 pictures was a good exercise for me. I have been feeling huge and taking these pictures (while dark and of low quality) made me realize I have some room to grow. Dang it!

I think I will like being a mom as long as my kids think doing crafts with me is fun. (even if they make goofy faces when we're done).

How have I not blogged for 3 months? Weird. Also, I thought I would post a picture of my belly at 32 weeks ... apparently I am the photographer and never the model (I am mostly okay with this). I will try to get a picture soon. Before this second wiggly boy is born, I hope. But ... here are some pictures of my cute boys from the last couple months.

At the pumpkin patch. We got to steal our daddy-daddy for a night! (Tyler has been working really hard and I'm super impressed with all he is accomplishing. Plus, when he comes home he takes care of Lincoln while I zone out, or he takes care of both of us. He is tough!)

The Zoo

August and the end of July have been much less exciting than June and early July. I guess thats what happens when all your family leaves. Rhonda got us a zoo pass when we moved here (funny sidenote: it says it belongs to the household of Kimber and Katie Rice ... don't we sound like a cute little lesbian couple?).

Anyway, Lincoln and I go about once a week. His favorite things about the zoo have nothing to do with the animals, but he still really likes it there. His favorite things include the pictures of animals, the toy animals, the giraffe slide, the goats, the geese, the jeep, the drinking fountain, the special picnic tables ... he is a funny kid.

I let him ride the merry-g0-round the other day because he always looks at it longingly, and i finally thought I could stomach going with him. Turns out he loves it and we now have a little monster.

I often think I'm going to look back at this summer and think about the bike rides on the greenbelt to the zoo and think about how great it was. I've been feeling really good this week, and I might even agree to its greatness right now.

No, I'm not feeling sad ... but we did find out the little guy inside me is a boy so all my baby thoughts now have a color theme at least.

I'm really excited to have another boy ... except one thing ... boy names are harder to come up with. Anyone have any good ideas? (I'm going to be sorry I asked, huh?)

Lincoln loves dogs- "the Doggie" or "the Pup." This one was at the park we walk to a couple times a week, and he was very friendly.

The Rice family has a reunion every year on the 4th. This year we celebrated on the 2nd though. It might have been my favorite reunion yet. Mimi and Papa are celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary this year so the reunion was a little bigger deal than usual. We had a private camp area and it was all Rices all the time. anyway, I actually took my camera to take pictures ... but the battery died so I only have a couple.

One of the traditional pastimes is for all of Mimi and Papa's kids to sing to them. (Okay, not all ... just those that want to). I did get a picture of that.

Alison Krauss

I really should have taken a picture of my cousin, Trish, and I ... Oh well. But ... we went to an Alison Krauss and Union Station concert on Friday night. It was REALLY awesome. I'm really glad I got to go with Trish and have a bit of a girls evening. It was really refreshing to me. It was at the Idaho Botanical Garden. You bring picnic blankets and low chairs, a picnic dinner and enjoy the show. The back of the venue is the old penitentiary wall. My fav venue thus far in my life. I highly recommend it. Plus, it was just chill, awesome music. I loved it. I wanted to brag a little. Alison Krauss and Dan Tyminski and band are awesome.

Also, my best friend from Moscow sent me a birthday card a couple days before the show that contained money to buy a T-shirt at the concert. It was probably the most heart-felt and heart-received birthday cash ever. So, here are crappy pictures to show off my new shirt. Thanks Jillaine! I purposely did a side shot so everyone can see that my belly has already begun to 'pop'. (15 weeks and counting)

For My Long Lost NC Friends

Here is a little update on our lives (although, I wouldn't mind hearing the same from you "Anne B" and Emily S):

Tyler is doing a joint program with the University of Idaho and Boise State. We were in Northern Idaho for the past 2 years (and I LOVED it). Now we are back in our hometown of Boise (and I'm liking a lot more than I expected after leaving a place I loved). So, we are no longer trailer trash. Its a big step down to being back in a regular old apartment. :) Its still fun. We live close to the greenbelt and parks and the zoo and my favorite grocery store so we go on lots of fun little bike rides and walks to fun places.

I've also started painting my fingernails, which I have never enjoyed before. Its going pretty well. I'm sure you are anxious for a status update on that. :)

Lincoln is one and a half, and he has been getting really big. Like he is a boy now. Not a baby. He is totally a mama's boy and I forgot how fun it is to show him off on the blog.

And I'm due the beginning of January. So ... I expect a baby around mid-January.

He totally looks like an Oakes boy here to me. (My maiden name). He is landing his 'hop.' He is really good at jumping for a 19 month old.

He got to pick his hat out of the treasure box at summer reading and he was really proud of it for a few days. He also loves to tote around his suitcase from his cousin, 'ZZuuzz.'

My lil' bro is leaving on a mission next week to Argentina. Tyler's sister's family just moved to London for 2 years. I should have lots of pics from recent family gatherings, but I don't ... yet. Maybe that will be next week's nap-time blog.

Baby Shower Season

Its almost here. This spring in Moscow it will be much more mellow than the last. (Seriously, last spring there was a baby shower every Saturday for 8 Saturdays in a row!) It also means I have been working on some seemingly small, quick projects. I always start thinking that a project will be so quick and easy and I always get so frustrated about half way through when it is taking me 30 times longer than I planned. Always! But this most recent project turned out pretty dang cute. Despite the broken needle and upside down sewing I had to do to complicate things. But I can't post a picture until I have given them away. So, Diana, let me know when you get it.

About a year ago, more or less, my grandma introduced Tyler and I to Dave's Killer Bread. Have you had it? It is my grocery shopping treat. It is expensive, so I can't get it all the time, but its SO GOOD. I care very little about the organic-mumbo-jumbo. Its just simply delicious. Get this kind if you want to try it:

Anyway, I was looking for recipes on line to try to copy it a little. I didn't find anything that looked too promising. (So, if you know where I can find something PLEASE let me know). But I did find a little video and recipe of Killer Dave himself making a 'sin dawg.' Basically, a portland-health-hippie version of a cinnamon roll. I made them Saturday. Too much work to prob make again, but really good.

Thats right ... I even bake ... from scratch on occasion.

Thanks for looking at my post about my Killer Dave crush. Better to blog about it than to act upon it. Tyler might get jealous ... that I'm eating all the bread.

I started this quilt last July and I just finished minutes ago. It is made from recycled wool felt. I can tell you which squares used to be skirts, pants, jackets ... AND ... I hand quilted it. I don't know if you know, but that takes forever so I will probably never do it again.

we put plastic over our windows so we are winter-weather ready. (c'mon ... we live in a trailer ... this sort of thing is to be expected from us).

we took our trash to the dump. and our recycling to the recycler.

i washed all our sheets. (and made the beds again).

i caught lincoln gabbering and flipping through his books all by himself quite a few times. it makes my little heart swell with pride that he seems to like books so far. (sorry, this isn't a 'book picture', but it is a pretty cute 'eating dirt' picture).

we went out on the town and had lunch at quiznos. with a coupon.

i vaccuumed.

i made one of the dinners we learned about at our last relief society activity. i think i liked it more than i expected.

speaking of food, this is day four without chocolate. for anyone who has been around me much, that is quite the feat. its not exactly a goal, more the byproduct of a current goal.

this picture is actually from a week or so ago. since lincoln walks and it would be severe torture to make him go to halloween events with other kids while his legs are stuck inside a fluffy catepillar i made him wear his bug suit on a walk and take some pictures.

tyler put more latches on the cupboards so that no more of this will happen. yeah, he is in the trash.

i finished book 3 of percy jackson. on a side note. i want to mention that i read the autobiography of CS Lewis a couple years ago. he said that a big part of his conversion was his interest in fantasy. and its funny that books like 'percy jackson' and 'the chronicles of narnia' can make me think more about Heavenly Father and maybe even shed some light on eternal principles.

oh! and maybe one of the most fulfilling events; i caouldn't figure out my dang zipper foot for my sewing machine a couple weeks ago. so, i gave up and tried to do a project without it. that surely backfired. so, then tonight i googled it and played with it and i figured it out! oh, glory!

The Not-Reading List

I like to read. And when its a good read there isn't much else I like to do until I'm finished. Every time I go to the library the book 'Cider House Rules' stand out to me. I finally picked it up yesterday. I knew it had something to do with abortion ... thats about it. About 90 pages in I decided I better read the synopsis to find out if I really did want to finish the book. Here is the thing- a book about abortion, or a doctor's mission to help women by performing abortions, or an orphan learning about his crazy past; all of these are themes I would be interested in reading about. But here is the bummer, after reading the synopsis and the first 90 pages I have discovered that those are plots in the book, but sex is what sells it. Its just ploy to hook readers because human minds are intrigued by sex. If there were less intimate details I would want to finish. John Irving just used abortion as the bait and sex as the hook and I just think its lacking real content. Sheesh ...

Tyler came home the other day with a broken thumb. I can distinctly remember saying, "Take ibuprofen and drink lots of water." (I may remember saying that because that is usually my remedy for things).

But I also said, "Now you're no better than an ape."

Tyler replied, "Apes have thumbs."

I said, "But they can't bend theirs' and neither can you."

(I'm such a loving wife).

The next morning Tyler went to the doctor. She told him to take ibuprofen AND drink lots of water. She also told him that now he was like an ape. Coincidence? I think not. I could totally be a doctor ...

Oh, and does anybody like posts without pictures? I doubt it. So here is a random one of my sister and Lincoln from the last time we went home.

I'm pretty sure our little guy has sprouted like a little weed. He and I have kind of figured out a little routine, he is really smiley, he does some cute little tricks, and he is growing out of all his little baby clothes. (I can only use the word 'little' for so long so I just used it as much as I could). I also thought Lincoln's grandmas probably needed some new pictures.

He loves sitting and standing like he is all grown up.

He likes hikes/walks with his mom.

He does NOT like to be on his belly so he rolls right over when he can.

Everyone loves the little booties he has on. And Marilyn was right, they always stay on.

And his mom loves this foxy little outfit from Grandma Rhonda. Mom also loves when dad gets a turn with the little guy.

A Little Different

Last night I was thinking about how all blog posts are basically like journal entries or updates or bragging about something in life. I guess people sometimes ask for book or movie suggestions and things like that. So, I was thinking I would take a stab at something a little different. I guess I'll see if this has any success or not. I was thinking I would post a question and people could respond if they have the time or enthusiasm. So, my experimental question is this: What is it (something, one thing, or many things...) that makes your spouse (really, I could just say husband ... mostly it is us girls blogging) uniquely perfect for you? It could be something simple - like he can jump really high or he always eats the food I make to something more complex - like he is really patient and always helps me talk things out (something I never knew how to do before). I wanna hear it if you wanna tell it. So let the experiment begin!

(Obviously, those examples were references to the cute boy pictured above).

My blog is pretty much a personal brag zone. It used to be, 'this is Tyler and I going here and doing that ...' but now its all about Lincoln. And because I can't brag about what a good sleeper he is or that he found a cure for cancer or anything like that ... yet ... I will brag about how cute he is. Talking with my grandma today she gave me a visual image I couldn't help but share. She said when she was pregnant with my mother that my mom put one foot on each side of her pelvis, folded her arms, and refused to come out. I think my kid is following suit. I was just thinking this morning that one of the things I love about pregnancy is how often my pants slide down and I show a little butt-crack. I don't think its just pregnancy brain. I grew up in a neighborhood with street names like sycamore and tamarack. I was telling some friends about the difference in raking leaves at my parent's house and our tiny little trailer yard. I didn't know what a tamarack was. So, just FYI, the first tree is a tamarack (kind of looks like a pine, huh Sussanah?), the second is a sycamore, and the last is a catalpa. Geesh ....

Amazing Friends

I have been feeling really blessed recently because of the girls I know. I have been learning so much and I have met a lot of amazing people (too many to mention so I'm just picking 3 of the most recent to blog about).

So, my new friend, Susannah, accomplished 2 things by hosing a mini-class last week. 1- she helped me remember I like beading. I made a bracelet last night and these are the earrings she showed me how to make. and 2 - I haven't worn earrings since senior prom I think. Nope, not even for our wedding. I wore earrings to church on Sunday. I meant to have Tyler take a picture of me actually wearing them, but we sort of fell apart after a long stake conference and forgot all about pictures. (and isn't it nice to have something new to make you feel cute when you are really just feeling fatter and more swollen by the day?)

Next thought is about my friend Jill. She spent the entire afternoon on Friday teaching me how to make bagels. Its something that I always thought would be good to make, but sounded like too much work to try. She also cooks in metric so it was really interesting to see that. I'm now no longer scared of making bagels (although I learned it def takes less time to just run to the bagel shop!)

Lastly, and the inspiration for this post- When I got home from bagel making Friday night I had gotten this in the mail. Is it not the cutest? What made me even happier was Tyler even loved it, and I don't think he has taken a second look at baby clothes yet. So, the last shout-out goes to my friend Diana for always being creative and having great ideas. Her blog shows the evidence. She is always making something cute, and I love being the recipient.
PS ... our due date is 2 weeks from today. (I keep telling people I think he will come later than that, but I still can't wait!)

Things I Have Made

I'm pretty proud of some of my accomplishments as of late so here is a little bit of bragging:

1- I learned how to crochet forever ago (I think when I was in achievement days Mary Stosich first taught me). But ... I have never been able to read a pattern. So, on one of our garage-saling escapades I bought a 'learn to crochet book' in hopes that I could learn to read patterns. This was my first endeavor - (oh ... its a giraffe if you can't tell ... PS he glows in the dark!)

2- I am so sick of making curtains! But ... these will hopefully be the last ones for a long time. Plus, they were the most fun. Yes, they look a little like Charlie Brown Christmas trees, but they are not.

3- I made spanakopita for the first time. Tyler was a good sport and humored me by eating a couple pieces. I thought it turned out pretty well.
4- I made it on a 3.5 mile hike. This looks pretty dead, but we actually think Moscow is very pretty.

5- Tyler and I together made a delicious chocolate trifle. Thats another thing I had never made before.
6- With the help of the above mentioned trifle and spanakopita I have been making this belly. I know its kind of small, but when I saw this picture it surprised me to see how big my belly actually is getting. I'm at 34 weeks and the baby is plenty active. So, theres the pregnancy update too.

So, most of you know that I have had 'morning sickness' for about the last 7 months. I try not to whine about it too much, but today ... I think I need to brag about it. I am getting REALLY good at throwing up. Maybe I should start teaching bulimia lessons or something. :) Here is the deal - I have been feeling pretty lousy the last few days. Today, I ate a burrito at about 11:00am. As soon as I finished my juice (compliments of WIC) I got up and CALMLY walked to the bathroom. I CALMLY pulled my hair back in a ponytail. I sat down on the floor and lifted the toilet-seat. Then I began to expel my burrito between my well-paced, deep, CALM breaths. After a few heaves I cleaned off the potty, blew my nose and came back out to the living room. Its like its no big deal for me anymore. There used to be a day when I had to run to make it there in time, or I would heave so hard that puke was stuck in my nasal cavities for days, but my technique has greatly improved.

Issaquah

We went to visit the Anderson's (Tyler's sister's family) over Labor Day weekend. They moved to Issaqah, WA (right outside Seattle) last spring.

I thought that letting my nephews and neice have reign of my camera would be fun for them. So, I now have a bunch of pictures of slugs and the floor.

We got to spend time with Jen's family and Tyler's parents. We also got to go visit my cousin on Sunday. She and her husband are stationed on the opposite side of Seattle. We got to see a lot of the area, and I thought it was very pretty.

Yeah, I can still zip my jacket sometimes. (And Zav did an excellent job taking this photo).

Katie loved the chocolates and Tyler now wants a St Bernard after visiting this awesome choc shop.

Here is a reason why I love my nephews and neice: We were in the car with the boys and I asked, "Do you guys know who Michael Jordan is?" They thought it was a weird question. "No ..." Then Seth pipes up, "I know who Scary Larry is!"

And P.S. We got some new pets. Little frogs because apparently, I am still a kid at heart and I thought the frogs the kids got were awesome and I needed some too.

A few Before and Afters

I tried to put these in a little bit of an order, but hopefully you can figure out which ones are the 'befores' and which ones are the 'afters'

This is our bathroom. Too bad the toilet isn't open so you can see the yellow water I whined about previously.

Don't worry, I didn't make much effort to clean up to take pictures. (The mess gets worse in following pix). I cleaned all day yesterday (and for the last couple months ... to me, this looks pretty good). Also, I want everyone to note what an amazing bed we sleep on. My grandma gave it to us, and we are very appreciative. The air mattress that served as a bed just wasn't quite doing it for a fat little pregnant girl anymore.

The tiny baby's room that is bursting with baby stuff. Hopefully, I can make room for a baby to fit in there too.

Heres all the clutter I was referring to. But, I have 2 more sets of shades to make today and then maybe I will but it away. I would like to point out the island with the shelf Tyler made me, my shelf with aprons hanging from it, and my 'electric yellow' kitchen. Picking paint is harder than I thought.

This is the opposite view- the kitchen looking in to the living room. We spent a lot of time on window coverings in their and they are barely in the picture. I was pretty proud of myself for making roman shades though. See the old wall with the fake brick and panel mirrors? It was a project, but I am so glad Tyler was able to tear that down and put in a normal wall. Also, look at the difference in light fixtures. Tyler is so proud.

This is the spare room that looks only half unpacked. Somehow, we have more crap than we can contain in a 3 bedroom trailer and 3 sheds. So ... this will prob sit here for a while.

One last thing I want to point out because it was so much work, is that all the wood paneling you see ... it had to be spackled at least twice, primed and then paineted. Sometimes more than once or twice. But ... there is no more wood paneling visible in this trailer. We still have quite a bit of work ... but we are getting there!

things i love about living in a trailer park

i was hoping to de-clutter the house enough today to put up some before and after shots, but its looking more like tomorrow. so, without photos, i would still like to share some of my favorite things about my new life as trailer trash (for those of you that thought I made fun of North Carolina too much, you will see I can find the negatives anywhere I live). :)

-free massages. when i run the washer or dryer and sit back on the other end of the house i still end up getting a nice vibrating massage. very relaxing.

-the color orange. we are on a well. apparently, it has issues. its a good thing we are BSU fans because otherwise we might have been very upset when the water turned all our underwears orange.

-speaking of the well, who doesn't love the smell of sulfer in the morning? nothing like a rotten-eggs shower to get you feeling clean. (its actually not too bad, and we are supposed to be turning over to city water in october).

-its a 3 bedroom trailer. but does it really count if one bedroom is 14 square feet? good thing babies are small.

-someone told us that it looks a little silly when the chandelier in the kitchen is worth more than the rest of the trailer.

- i thought it was very convenient when painting that i could easily reach up and touch the ceiling. no ladder needed for me. although, each time i hit my head on the light fixture hanging from the ceiling the enchanment of low ceilings fades.

-bugs. first, we thought our problem was wasps. still is. then it was mosquito eaters. they come inside, drop their legs off around the house, but don't die. i find them struggling for life, legless, each morning. also, I didn't know it was possible to bring my laundry in from off the line and find over 7 lady bugs in the beforementioned orange underwears. earwigs. i will never get used to them. i hate them. and recently they have been enjoying the place. tyler and i have really honed in our hunting skills. i killed 2 flies with one smack yesterday. this morning, when i went outside to water my strawberries, the entire front yard began to buzz louder with each step i took. i realized the ground was alive with flies. disgusting. and i don't think that slugs qualify as bugs, but we have HUGE banana slugs living under the trailer. out of sight, out of mind.

-privacy. living in a trailer often feels like living in a fishbowl. we are still working on window-coverings, but until then i can tell you whether our neighbors ordered pizza or chinese last night. they order delivery for one of the 2 nearly everyday.

-the fishbowl has led to some other amazing neighborhood experiences-

1-watching a domestic dispute. when you are married and live with your parents and look like you are 16 and scream F-bombs at one another up and down the street someone is bound to be entertained. we were.

2-the discovery that my child will never get ot play in the front yard. the neighbors that order delivery each night have a friend who comes over often and he drives a truck. with a beer in his hand. every time we see him.

3-tyler looking like a pervert. the first week we were here we painted the living room. tyler was edging around the windows and the grandaughters of the neighbor behind us were playing outside (which they do every afternoon). they are 2 and 4 and they decided they like playing in the kiddie pool naked. as tyler was kneeling at the window to paint he suddenly discovered how creepy he must look as a new neighbor, kneeling at the window, staring at naked little girls. he found a new project to work on.

-we actually really like most our neighbors. but i do have to mention the trailer on the corner. if you walk within 30 feet of it you know the people that live there are heavy smokers. if you walk within 200 feet of it and the head of house is outside you know that he looks like santa and has a large plumber's crack issue.

-it wouldn't be a trailer park without the token purple house, the lit-up american flag, the neighbors whose porch is overfowing with keystone light boxes, yappy shitzus, and camping trailers scattered about with no apparent owner.

without the sarcasm

-i really do love having my own place that i can do whatever i want to. i didn't even have to call and ask a landlord when i painted or made tyler tear down walls.

-rent. lot rent is about a third of regular rent.

-having a yard. i have strawberry and raspberry plants!

-sheds. i love when we have somethign we don't know what to do with and we can now say, "eh, put it in the shed."

So, this last week we took one more little trip before Tyler starts school on Tuesday. We went to Boise for a few days, which was a little less hectic this time and we got to spend more time with Adam & Kimber and Rich & Jennette. We then went on a super quick trip to Utah to see one of my most favorite people get married. The two times Tyler and I have been apart since getting married resulted from two trips I took to see Wendy. Thats how much I like her. So, here are some pictures of how great she looked and pictures with some of my favorite people. There was too much driving, and I really did get to see more friends than these pictures show, so it was a great trip. Oh, and thanks Westy for letting us stay with you.

Last night I must have been super tired because I fell asleep early and I was dead to the world. Tyler stayed up to do such things as 'skunk hunt,' finish putting in our new sink, cleaning, and I'm not sure what else. This was a little clue though: this morning I woke my husband up for church. When I saw this face looking up at me from the pillow next to mine I said, "You look like a pervert."

A Mini-Update

Its been a while and I don't know what all has happened. Quick little update on our lives:

- We made it to Idaho. It was actually a pretty smooth drive.

- We went to a Rice family reunion, and family get-togethers for both sides of my family.

- We hung out in Idaho City, Boise, McCall, and found ourselves only sleeping in the same bed 2 nights in a row.

- We went to Moscow, ID where Tyler will be starting school.

- We bought a trailer. We now live here:

- We work on it all day everyday. It is already looking WAY better. Tyler says I have to learn patience and not post before and after pix until we are done. Its taking more restraint than I thought. (But here is a non-house picture showing how much crap we still have left to unpack. We just got the internet yesterday. Tyler was so excited to use it. But ... by the time I came to check on him he had fallen asleep. He has def been working hard).

- I keep promising Janica I will post a 'belly-shot.' I made Tyler take this just a minute ago. So, its up-to-date. 25 weeks. In the past couple weeks I have really started growing. And ... our little man is active all the time. I still don't know how real it seems, but we are starting to get very excited! (Oh, and if you are going to say something nice, like "you look great," ... I'm still not loving pregnancy and I always respond with "well, I still throw-up" so thats my disclaimer and you can skip the remark. :) really, its getting better, its only like once a week. but I'm well enough that I think all this puking will be worth it).

I've been trying to think of all the books and movies I've read/listened to/ or watched recently because I really want to say something about "Anna Karenina." So, here are some of my thoughts on others as well:

We saw this in Puerto Rico with Rich and Jennette, but Tyler redboxed it last night. I stand by my evaluation that it should have been rated R, and that Tyler needs to do a few years in the special services before we have a daughter. Good thing we are having a son! But, in the movie's defense ... the dad is pretty dang awesome and it kept me hooked (and I normally find actions scenes boring).

This was a short little book that I had to finish because I don't like to leave things unfinished. I actually liked the end much better than the beginning because I think the author stopped being as artsy and started telling an interesting story at the end. Not one I recommend.

Believe it or not, I had never seen "Sleepless in Seattle" before Tuesday. I enjoyed it. I had to love skinny Tom Hanks and spunky Meg Ryan talking about MFEO. Hate me if you will (Emily V), but not THE MOST amazing chick-flick.

Speaking of most amazing chick-flicks, this is. I really like podcasts and I downloaded the whole audiobook off some podcast channel and could hardly function in normal life because I just wanted to be plugged into my ipod. (Even though I knew EXACTLY what was going to happen). This one never gets old. (and it was nice to try it in a new form)

Okay, Anna; I really loved it from the start. Two characters were set-up in a victorian-esc love dilemma. The other characters were talking about affairs from the female stand-point and nothing positive was said of them. Well, I liked Tolstoy's writing (except when he went off on Russian politics that I know nothing about). And I loved the two characters, from the love dilemma in the beginning, all the way through the book. But I think Anna was supposed to evoke more of a reaction from me. I just got sick of her and was glad to not read about her any longer. Anyone who has read this, I would love some other thoughts.

Actually, I also listened to this one as an audiobook. This author just writes about sad things. I think my heart broke like 300 times. But I still loved it. If they made a movie out of it, then maybe I could compare it to "The Kite Runner." I thought this one ended more sadly, but more optimisticly, but that could have just been the difference in a movie versus a book. I'll reiterate that I really like books and movies like this. They make me appreciate what I have and they shed light on things I know nothing about (ie. Afghanistan and terrorism).

Baby Mama

So many of the things I wanted to enjoy about moving here are finally happening. (Such as fireflies). And ... yesterday at work I was talking to a friend who asked how I was feeling. I told him I still puked sometimes and I was sick of it. (I'm sick of being sick ... haha) He replied, "My ... uh ... baby mama was sick for all but the last couple months ..." Mostly, I was so excited that he referred to her as 'baby mama' in complete seriousness. Thank you Greenville.

Fireflies!

This picture is actually pretty gross, but I was SUPER excited last night when I FINALLY started seeing fireflies. That was one of the things that made me so excited to move to the east. Apparently, we had just missed them by the time we moved here last summer. I was beginning to think that I had been lied to. But last night they were out and about. They are SO COOL!

NC BBQ

There are definitely things we will miss about NC. BBQ has taken on another completely different meaning here. I thought BBQ meant steaks or even hot-dogs on the grill. Wrong. Here, BBQ is pulled pork. NC is supposedly 'famous' for its vinegar-based BBQ. I only learned that after moving here. Let me tell you, there is some dang good stuff. (Well, and some that isn't my favorite). There are a few hole-in-the-wall joints that have made the news though.

First - Bill Ellis BBQ. We've eaten this a few times because he is the owner of the house that we put that chandelier up in. So, they fed us his food. The BBQ was a little spicier, but good. and ... I liked the hush-puppies and I am NOT a hush-puppy, corn-stick, fan.

The above picture is at Pete Jone's Skylight Inn. Notice this man in cutting up meat with a cleaver. The guy at the front window there usually has 2 cleavers. And there were flies buzzing around. But, Presidents have gone there to eat and its ranked as one of the top-10 BBQ places in the nation. (Thanks for the heads' up, Rich).

I think my favorite so far is B's. You can tell it looks classy as well. Everyday people stand in line for an hour to get their food and every day they are open just for lunch and they stay open until the food runs out. (Which is probably 2 or 3 pm).

There are other places like Parker's and Bum's (once again ... see the theme of classiness that accompanies this food?). One of my favorite things about the food here I learned at Parker's. You can choose your side of vegetables. The options are green beans, french fries, or macaroni and cheese ... the waiter looked at me like I was retarded when I asked, 'When did mac-n-cheese become a vegetable?'

The Guessing Game

I wish finding out the gender of your baby was like getting a mission call. Because I really want to have people guess ... and then whoever is closest ... gets the pleasure of knowing they are a good guesser. But having a baby gives you three ... possibly four options - girl, boy, still wasn't able to identify, and (please bless not) hermaphrodite. :) We have our appointment to find out on Monday. (Theres your answer, Aimee) Let the guesses begin.

P.S. Jennette already said girl with super curly hair and a pot-belly like her dad had when he was a baby. Jennette - did you know I was bald until I was two? :)

Hot Pockets Part II

Who knew I loved hot pockets so much? I don't remember eating them since high school. But, the other night Tyler got home late, and I had worked all day. I am incapable of taking care of myself after work any more, so when Tyler got home I asked him to fix me some food. He listed my options and I jumped on the hot pocket. He came back in the room a minute later to tell me he forgot he ate the last one a couple days ago ... what did I do? Start bawling. Pregnancy is ridiculous.

My Perfect Husband

I just need a second to brag about why MY husband is so great. First off, ever since getting pregnant and getting sick he has been packing my lunches in the morning so I can sleep a little bit longer. When I started throwing up every morning he started getting up a couple minutes before me so he could bring me breakfast in bed to help settle my stomach before I got up and moving (which really has helped a lot!). He has been a real trooper so far.

Today, he went above and beyond. I had requested that in today's lunch a hot pocket be put in for my mid-morning breakfast. Around 11 when I finally got a break I went to the back to get my hot pocket. ... No hot pocket! So, I texted him 'no hot pocket?' His immediate response was, 'oh no, I'll go get one and bring it to you right now.' I let him do it because it just sounded SO GOOD (part of the weird pregnancy cravings I suppose). He left his work, which was quite busy and he was in charge and came to mine. All the women on the floor harassed him for moving me away next month, and them not getting to see the baby, and ... for forgetting the hot pocket. I think they were all so impressed that he actually brought it to me. And they all think he is cute. I really do have the best husband.

Whirlwind Trip

Part of the reason I wanted to move east was to travel. Especially, to see Boston. I had already been to DC and NY and I just knew I would also love Boston. So, we finally got to go. It was now or ... maybe never. We drug our friends, the Stantons, along (or they drug us since we took their car and Steve drove most the time). It was really fun. And a lot really fast. This first picture is Tyler's mission president and his wife. He is currently the Boston temple president. Its always nice to hear that your husband actually was a hard-working, well-behaved missionary. (Although prior to going we all got briefed on what not to say). They made us breakfast, let me use use their shower, and take a nap. And the highlight of my morning may have been buying some long over-due larger-sized garments. Oh ... my kidneys can function again! (and my eyes are shut for just about half the pictures we took).

Boston Gardens

We got to visit my friend, Lindsey, at Harvard. We also got to meet his really cute fiance, Stephanie. For any Boise people anxious for gossip, I REALLY liked her. She was great. Also, I think I feel smarter just saying I know people who go to Harvard.

Thanks to Marina's detective work, and Steve's gift to her about 1,000 things to see, we made it to the biggest antique flea market. Its only held 3 weeks a year (or something like that). It was massive ... and awesome. So many cool old things. If we get rich, I think we know a fun place to throw away money (better than Vegas, maybe?).

We then headed to Palmyra to check out the church history sites there. It was pretty cool. This is inside the Smith home. We toured the sites and spent some time in the Sacred Grove, which was beatiful and awesome. They gave us big umbrellas to carry around with us because of the on-and-off rain. (In high school the BFC made a list of best places to be kissed. I think my new number one is - in the sacred grove, light rain, big umbrella, with my husband. TMI?)

We then went to Niagra Falls. This thing is huge and awesome. It was a little cold, but pretty awesome to see.

Thanks again Marina and Steve for running all around New England with us. We had a lot of fun. (And how many steps do you think we got in total? 80,000?)

At Your Local Library ...

The library here is really a cool old building. It is also the highlight of my social life recently. Last week I saw both Kara, and Mary Kay (from work). I never see anyone I know around town. Much to my pleasure and surprise the tradition has continued because today I saw Lena. Going to the library is how I have celebrated being done with school this semester. Today, I checked out '1,000 Splendid Suns' due to the recommendation of Diana. Thank you Sheppard Memorial Library.

The Terrible Case of Benjamin Button

I was never a big movie person. Since getting married I have become a movie watcher. (It might also have something to do with working 12 hour shifts and having energy for nothing else by the end of the day). We rented Benjamin Button last night. I am reminded why I never used to like movies. We were unimpressed. Many of the movies I have watched recently that are blockbuster hits are basically centered around sex. As was this one. But this was three hours long ... ugh ... Also, I used to think Brad Pitt was possibly the most attractive man alive. I am a little dissapointed. He really isn't even a very good actor. He just plays a silent, brewding character in all his movies. And I don't think it was seeing him as a hidious old-man-baby that ruined it for me.

When I get the conference issues of the Ensign, the first thing I do is flip through to see if I know anyone in the pictures. It has never happened. Sometimes Iwould see people I recognised from classes at BYU. Today, on page 84, there was a picture of Eric Litster. Not having talked to him in years I won't post the picture, but I know there are others who may be amused by this.

So, some of you may know that in Tyler and I's grand scheme we want to buy and live in a trailer ... yes, a mobile home ... throughout Tyler's law school experience. At first, I was a little turned off to the idea, but I have since seen the light and I am all about it. (As long as it doesn't smell like smoke and I can play with decorating). Anyway, I have been so keen on the idea that I told my friend, Kelly, all about it. We joked about putt-putt turf porches and flamingos and garden gnomes. Look what she gave me at work. My first trailer-warming gift.

School is almost over. I have one more paper to write and then I need to keep tabs on my classes for the next week. Then ... I am done. I can barely contain myself. Last week I noticed I started accumulating more lists than usual. I usually have a grocery list and a to-do list, but now I have those plus a 'to do when school ends' list, plus a list of things to do when we are in Boise this summer, plus a list of things for my mom to do for me. I'm going overboard. I do want to share my Boise list though because there may be things that I am missing. Of course, visit family and friends is a given. Here is what else I have come up with:

I love Boise summers. For anyone who doesn't know, we are probably going to U of I in Moscow for law school. We will spend July in Boise and then move up north. Not too far from home. I'm getting more excited the more details we start planning.

2 Things I Love

#1- Boche Ball on the Beach. (And being able to go there for a day trip).

#2- All of the cool, old abandoned houses in the area. They are EVERYWHERE and they are amazing. I wish I had stories about exploring the insides, but ants attacking Marina prevented such an adventure once, and my distrust of the neighbors of these homes and their probable ownership of guns and even more probable mental instability has kept me admiring these awesome homes from the outside.

So, we filled out our brackets the other day. Meaning, both of us filled out multiple on multiple websites. I'm excited to do better than my husband. Bwohaha. Anyway, I figured I needed to add some pictures to spruce things up. So, I just found some random ones with no correlation to my current life or post: At the Native American Smithsonian. What I didn't know about the South

So far, North Carolina has been an interesting place to live. We live on the Eastern side which is a little more impoverished than the rest of the state. And don't get me wrong, I have liked it here a lot so far (most the time), but here are some things I encountered that I didn't expect to:

- There are a few different forms of the English language. 1- The Southern drawl. 2- Normal English. 3- Country jibberish. We get these real country folk who talk real fast and I am pretty sure its NOT English. I catch a few words here and there, but it is WEIRD. I'd say half the people who were born and raised here have the drawl and half don't. Its kind of strange. After a long day of work I come home saying things like "Its right darn ..." or "Miss Judy said ..." or " If y'all ..." and normal Southern phrases. Things I didn't know before are phrases like "She was cuttin' up" (She was hurting/acting badly) "That was real ugly" (That was real mean/hurtful) "The youngins' (My children) "Co-cola" (coke ... I dunno why they don't add the 'k' syllable) "Pine straw" (pine needles) ... I'm sure there are more.

- If you are female and you are young and black your name will either have a La-, Ta-, Sha-, Shan-, -isha, ish, -ita, -a. When I first started at the hospital, the girls I met were Shankisha, Latasya, KaSheta, Tawanda ... definitely a cultural thing.

- SO, I hve heard Texas is the fatest state overall, but we have got some BIG people. McDonalds, Bojangles, and nearly every other fast food chain always have a line. Although, those are the biggest ones. People LOVE their fried chicken and french fries. Those are 2 big staples of the diet here. It could be that the McDonalds back home are just as busy, but I don't remember it. I also don't remember eating with all the other nurses everyday and seeing so much fried chicken. There is also a great love for macaroni and cheese. Since I also love this one I won't mock it too much.

- I would say one out of every 10 people I see a day is wearing an Obama shirt. In Greenville, about 4 of every 10 are African American. One of these people is wearing an Obama shirt. I think this is actually kind of cool. Since when was there that much support for a president?

- Laziness. I talked with a friend who had spoken with a girl. The government was going to pay for all her living expenses, pay for daycare, and pay for her school if she would go back and get a degree. This is a woman living on the welfare ticket. The girl's response? " They expect me to do that?" Like she was disgusted that somene would expect her to work. Also, I often have patients who in response to me asking, "What do you do when you are not in the hospital?" Say things like "Nothing." "Watch TV." Then it is no wonder that the entire family is visiting all day because none of them do anything either.

- This one is both a pro and a con. When I moved here I was so impressed at home many people went to church and how they would talk about the Lord blessing their lives and their belief in Jesus. I thought this was pretty awesome since in Boise you are either Mormon or agnostic it seems (I know there are exceptions). Anyway, so, I liked the openness and the fact that people were Christian. What I have come to dislike is the fact that many people do what they want and its okay because they are 'saved' or someting like that. Heaven forbid we would actually take counsel to heart. Overall, I think its a good thing, but some people get taken advantage of by preachers and some people don't see that there are commandments and actions that apply to us. (I'm sure this is hypocritical ... I am digging a hole).

- I guess this goes with laziness, but there is so much litter all over every road. It is pretty gross. Plus, there are dead possums, ducks, dear, turtles, raccoons and an assortment of small animals lining the roads.

- There are Southern Belles. There are 2 main schools in town. Pitt Community College and Eastern Carolina University. The Southern Belles go to ECU. They are high maintenance, boutique shopping, 600 $ per day spending girls. I work with nursing students from both schools. I have REALLY liked people from both schools, but in general the PCC students are paying their way through trying hard to get good jobs. Last week I had an ECU student stand around and whine to me about how she didn't want to be a nurse. "Okay, then quit. But I have work to do and I don't want to hear it."

- Gold Teeth. Thats the name of a shop in town. They can do same day work. I'm often surprised at how many people appear to have taken them up on this offer.

- I have met more women here who gave birth to their first child at age 15 then ever before in my life.

- I will reiterate I love the turtles. We saw a huge yellow bellied slider laying in a log sunning today. And a cute little box turtle still trying ot hibernate. A box turtle is the state turtle.

- Tyler got home so I'll wrap this up quickly. Last week I had 2 experiences that opened my eyes to race. Today, I had lunch with a couple people and one was from this area. He informed us that integration started taking place in the mid 70s here. Does that not seem unreal? Greenville is a little behind I suppose. Anyway, so last week I was talking to a 40-50 year old woman. She went off on how whites and blacks are different and people don't realize it. They have no family values, and they only ever join the church for the welfare program. The black boys always like the white girls and the black girls are mean to the white girls. I was a little bit in awe at hearing this. I would guess she has had some negative experiences. Then, 3 days later, my patient 'fired' me. Asked for a new nurse. I hadn't spent more than 3 minutes in the room before this point. She informed me I had an attitude, and I was rude, etc. I thought, "You haven't even met me yet ..." My bosses pulled me in the office to say they had lots of problems with this woman and thay most the white nurses had been fired. I thought they were just trying to make me feel better. But later a white resp therapist went in the room and she came out saying how rude the patient and her husband had been to her. She said "If you guys nedd..." and they interupted and said "Its Mr. and Mrs. So-and-So." That was a new experience for me. I am done ranting for now. If you read this, you are tough.

My New Bag

When Tyler checked the mail Friday night my mom had sent me a package. She had made me this bag. Yes, she made it. I think its perfect. Thr right size, good colors ... I love it.

I also want to add that we had avocado milkshakes with dinner tonight. I am with Shanah ... I thought they sounded horrible. I was surprised other people did not feel the same. I stand by it though, they are delicious.

Oh ... and I have had some other 'Southern Experiences' in the last week. I will rant about those another time. For now I will just say that the south is an interesting place.

Avocado Milkshake

We went to B's Barbecue the other day with some friends from the ward, the Days. Ruth is from Brazil. They had told us that in Brazil people drink Avocado milkshakes. They said avocado is a sweet fruit there. So, after lunch they made us some milkshakes. I have never been an avocado fan before the last few months when I decided I would give guacamole another try (and I loved it). These milkshakes ... DELICIOUS!

The Kite Runner

So, I'm at home taking another sick day. Its sad when I would rather be at work feeling good. Anyway, I rented "The Kite Runner" from redbox. I have this unexplainable love for the theme of humanity conquering inhumanity in literature and movies. I love holocaust literature. Some of my favorite movies are "Life is Beautiful" and "Schindler's List." "Hotel Rwanda"? ... loved it. Get the point? So, whenever we watch these types of movies I cry and Tyler tells me I shouldn't watch anymore movies (read any more books) like this and the cycle continues. So "The Kite Runner" ... 4 gold stars. (Also, I know I should have read the book first. I'm sure its great. I only have so much time on a sick day though).

Where did we meet? Church or institute. It took a while and does 'church or institute' not sound lame?

How long did we date before we got married? 9 months-ish

How long have you been married? 1 year, 1 month and 2 weeks

What does he surprise you with? Well, he doesn't? One of my favorite things is to guess what tricks he might have up his sleeve. I always do. So, maybe he surprises me with what plan I can ruin next? (Poor Tyler)

What is your favorite feature of his? His Robin Hood eyes

What are his best qualities? WELL ... he can jump really high, he is very smart, he always keeps a cool head in times of conflict (like when the attorney called him at work and yelled at him the other day), he loves me the most, he is always willing to give something his 100% best effort, he worries about things like self-sufficiency, and ... I think he is really cute.

Does he have a nickname for you? I think we call each other the same things (we are one). Hunny-bunny and Dearie most often grace our lips. (Man, I am such a sap).

His favorite food? Steak or lasagna.

Favorite sport? He loves BSU football and Lakers basketball. I think he checks ESPN more during basketball season though.

First kiss? I was getting tired and I had class the next day so I said, "Are you going to kiss me yet?" and he had the nerve to say, "I make the girls kiss me first." I don't know if it was before or after he said this but he did kiss me. The little punk.

Favorite things to do together? Play volleyball and sometimes tennis, go to my grandma's house in McCall, eat, travel, play games (I might enjoy that more than him), go to the beach, shop, oh ... and ride bikes!

Children? NA

How old? 26. I always forget what year he was born in. 82.

Music? He likes whatever his sister, Jen, sends him. Tops being Pumpkins, Umbrellas, Radiohead, Iron and Wine and more. He also loves the Beatles and stuff like Don McLean. And I will add he always tolerates my country. You know he is tough.

What do you admire about him? That he is hard working and never idle. He is a good listener and good problem solver. I also admire his smile and his eyes and ...

His favorite color? I guess I can't really let Kimber and Adam one up him in Lakers love so I will have to copy-cat and say purple and gold.

Puerto Rico- Items 1-3

I think there are about 10 different aspects of Puerto Rico I could blog about. Since I finally have a day off I am going to. But, I think I will just pick 2. Maybe 3. I'll see how fast I am. Also, since Tyler has semi-volunteered to blog I will leave the full trip blog until he gets home.

#1- My father in law playing in the waves. You know we will have awesome kids when their grandpa was the one doing this the entire trip:

#2- Jennette's 'Arrested Development' Chicken Dance and Rich's Whale. I think I would need permission to post those.

#3- Jennette. I wouldn't say we were not friends before, but now I would say she is on my list of favorite people. (Just like southerners to use a double negative). Pretty much, she is awesome. She is a great photographer, she is very practical, she made us awesome dinner on a number of occasions, she has read nearly every book I want to read, she has this theory on dog people/readers that I cannot dispute, did I mention she does the chicken?, the fish seem to love her, etc.

The Day After Valentines

This summer when we went up to visit my grandma in McCall she opened up her safe and gave me a couple pins that belonged to her mother and a little powder case (for make up ... I'm not exactly sure what they are called). So, I know this picture doesn't show it well, but I am wearing on eof the pins and I think it is really cute. It just happens to make 45,000 times better that my great-grandmother used ot wear it. (Thanks for letting me be ridiculous and take this picture Dearie).

We were told we should take rain jackets to Puerto Rico with us. There is a store in town called The Great Outdoor Provisions Company. We thought that might be a good place to find a jacket. We happened to go on a day they were having a big sale and we found all sorts of cheap, but wonderful jackets. None of them were rain jackets. We ended up spending more money than planned so we decided our jackets would be our Valentine's presents. I am pretty ridiculous and I am not even telling you the full extent of things. But to add a little to our ridiculous-ness I will say our jackets match. As much as Tyler argued I made him take matching-jacket/Valentines pictures yesterday.

All In A Day's Work

If you know me, you probably know I am not "a very huggy person." I hug Tyler and my Grandma, and other than that I am pretty awkward. But at work the last couple days I have been a hugging machine. Streuss Waffles and Potties on the Wall (Oh, and a Red Bird)

One of my favorite European treats is streuss waffles. I think I must have eaten pounds of them. It always surprised me that I like them so much because A- there is no chocolate and B- there is carmel (something I typically don't care for). When I saw mini-waffles at the grocery store today I had to buy them. Not bad for imports!
Many people may know that Tyler works for a light fixture company. I can't imagine how business could be down when they sell products like this! Yes, thats the night-light Tyler brought home for me today.

And ... I took this picture when we were getting snowed on. I just thought it was perfect. Too bad its so small on the blog.

Best Relief Society Activity Ever

My Sister's Visit

Up until the last couple weeks NC had ranged in temperature from the 50s-70s. My sister came to visit and I kept teasing her that she brought Idaho weather with her. She never got to experience our warm, humid weather. We still went to the Outer Banks though. We went all the way up to the northernmost lighthouse, Currituck, which may be my favorite. The Outer Banks just gets a lot 'cuter' up there.

This is Tryon Palace in New Bern. The guides are dressed like people from the 1700s and you can tour other historical homes. I got to play the harpsichord (fulfilling a life-long dream inspired by Encarta '95). I thought it was pretty cool.
It was fun to see her and get beat by her at all of the most ridiculous card games.

A little more about the weather here. It snows like every 15 years. Luckily, today is that day. It is hilarious though. Stores close and school gets cancelled just because of the chance of snow. So many people were stocking up on groceries to get them through this little spell last night that a friend who works at a grocery store got called in to work. My boss called everyone who worked today to tell them they might want to bring extra clothes to work because they might have to stay over for a while if it snowed. REALLY?

Busy, Buys, Busy ...

So, our anniversary was actually on the 5th. I, personally, celebrated by leaving Tyler here in Greenville on the 6th and going to DC to visit my long, lost, best-friend, Wendy. She had just moved there, and now I wish I had just moved there. Every time I go there I just like it more and more.

This is the train I took to get there. (Well ... I did take a train. Loved it).

This is Megan, Wendy, me and Jamie. We all lived in the same place our freshman year and part of sophmore year (until I moved) at BYU. It was really fun to get together and hear about what everyone was up to. It made me remember how awesome those girls are. Oh ... somehow I have a knack for finding free frozen yogurt, even in foreign cities.

My face ... I don't know how to say cheese. But we went to dinner at a chic pizza place. 2$ per bite of tortellini.

While Wendy was in class I spent my days roving the art galleries of DC. She texted me when she finished the first day to ask where I was. At that point I had been lost inside the National Gallery for a couple hours already so I replied that I thought I was at the Louvre. I even had to go back the next day, and I still never made it to the east building. Anyway, I loved it. This spider-thing is outside the Hirshhorn. I really wanted Kimber to be at this one with me. I think she would have had some comments to make it even better.

When I found art that I thought Tyler might appreciate I wanted to show it to him in hopes that someday he would go to an art museum with me and not feel like he is being punished. Ironically, another form of art we found was in the form of an NBA game. I don't think he would mind me dragging him to one of those. This is Wendy, me, and her new roommates Kristen and Carolyn (sp?). Oh, and they all are student teacing and get to live in a sweet pent-house in Crystal City. Does that not sound awesome? By the way, the wizards are not very good.

We also went to a free concert one night at the Kennedy Center. It was pretty awesome. We decided that this was the black version of Wendy's boyfriend. Cute, right?

Last, but not least, I will shame myself for a moment. I was really worn out by the end of one day and I was walking toward the Library of Congress when I noticed I could go in this greenhouse-y building. Turns out it was like my most favorite national museum ever. I think I took 70 pictures of cool flowers and 5 of my friends the entire trip. Another point to add to my shame is that I have spent a few days away from Tyler twice in our whole year of marriage. To Wendy's credit, they were both to see her. I had fun both times, but I really missed the little guy. To anyone who has seen or read The Golden Compass, I describe it as having my soul cut off. Its like I'm only half me when he isn't around. Sweet, huh? Well ... It has been a wonderful year even if I go on fun trips without him sometimes. And that was the synopsis of my really busy, but really fun trip to DC.
